Frankenstein Was Inspired By A Dream Symbol

Mary Shelley’s character Frankenstein appeared to her in a dream after experiencing difficulty with her husband.  It’s especially interesting to notice the green color of the Frankenstein character with the bolts in his neck as a potential symbol for her feelings about her husband cheating on her making her jealous and having difficulty “staying securely committed completely body an mind” with the neck bolted.

A possible symbol for how she felt in her marriage  while being pregnant and regularly sick while her husband cheated on her.  A monster of marriage jealousy that is too big to do anything about.

Also possibly a symbol for Shelley being annoyed with her husband being too selfish about having sex with her.  He was noted as being a jerk to her if she didn’t put out.  The green color then representing how selfish she felt her husband was and the bolts in the neck representing how unpleasant it felt to put up with her husband’s unwanted desire to keep him loving her completely (or get her pregnant for appearances) and then cheat on her.
